Have surplus food? We can use it.
Kairos Food Rescue has been operating since 2018 and recently moved into our new warehouse at 100 Mowbray Street.
We’ve built strong relationships with people in need across Ōtautahi, cultivating a community culture of compassion and acceptance. People from all walks of life feel welcome, and we provide accessible opportunities for meaningful community involvement through volunteering.
The New Zealand Food Act 2014 specifically permits businesses to donate unsold food. Known as the ‘Good Samaritan Clause’ (clause 352), it protects companies from liability when donating safe and suitable food.
We’d love for your business to be involved. Here’s how it works:
We only redistribute surplus food—no need to prepare anything extra. Some days you might not have surplus, and that’s absolutely fine.
Perishable food is redistributed the same day to ensure it’s eaten fresh and safe.
We work around your schedule, with volunteers collecting surplus food at consistent, convenient times.
As a thank you, your business logo will be featured on our website and promoted through our social media channels.
Whether you’re a café, restaurant, catering company, supermarket, farm, wholesaler, or any other food business with surplus food, partnering with Kairos Food Rescue benefits both you and people in need.
